Dream big

NadNed with Noam

Noam, 6.5, lives in Israel. She’s the first child of 3, she likes coloring and her new dog. Dresses are not a priority.

How old are you? Six. Almost and a half.

Where do you live? What? What Street, you mean? I know I live in Kfar Saba, that’s it. Number 5 or something.

Who’s your favorite hero? Heroines! Batgirl and Harley Quinn. Harley Quinn is a woman with pigtails, one is pink and one is blue, and pants with two sides – a red one and a blue one. She’s dirty and her shirt is torn but she has cool shoes, roller-skates. And she has a leash. Like a dog. She’s a woman and she is bad! She works with Batman’s enemy, the Joker. Batgirl is Batman’s wife, maybe his girlfriend? I have Batgirl Lego. Mom got it for me.

What’s the best thing that happened to you this week?  We got Luna! I wanted a dog for a really long time, and we finally convinced mom and dad. Finally!

What’s the best gift you received this year? Hmmm…. Mom and dad surprised us with Luna…. Hmmm… I’m trying to think cause all my gifts are amazing. Oh! I got a squashy shaped like an ice cream. And you can put a pen or pencil inside.

What’s your favorite food? Mom makes the best food, dad’s on second place. He makes me a chocolate-peanut-butter sandwich to school.

Who’s your best friend? Aviv and Emily. We met in preschool.

What do you like to wear? Mom’s clothes, Nad-Ned’s dresses. But I prefer pants and shirts, I think it looks better.

What are your favorite colors to wear? Black, grey, white.

Pink? No! I like to be cool, not cutesie. I don’t like to dress like a doll.

Who do you miss? Grandma. She’s sick and she has test all the time, so we don’t see her so much. We used to see her every day. I text her all the time.

What was your favorite holiday this year? In Eilat, there was a beach and a pool.

What do you want to do when you grow up? Be a fashion designer. Or a painter. I really love to paint. I’m great at it.

What was your favorite moment ever? When my first tooth fell.

Who do you like to play on a seesaw (nad-ned) with? What? Are you serious with me? Dad, of course. He always makes me fly high into the sky.

If I were a gold fish, what would you ask of me? A birthday. Now. I want to be 12 and decide my own decisions and do everything alone. I can’t wait any more, and I don’t have the patience to wait 6 more years until my Bat Mitzva*.

Do you want to ask me something? Sure. How old are you?

*Bat Mitzva – A Jewish coming-of-age ceremony for girls, celebrated at the age of 12, usually with a grand party. Boys celebrate Bar Mitzva, in which they also accept the Torah.
